In a meeting with Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao in Mangaluru on Friday, Mr. Kumar said a new Intensive care unit, operation theatre, laboratory and dialysis centre will come up at the ESI Hospital. He said there was one ESI hospital and 11 ESI clinics in the Mangaluru region that covers Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. As many as 3.92 lakh workers and their 15 lakh family members were receiving ESI facilities. There were 18 empanelled private hospitals in Dakshina Kannada and 11 in Udupi district where ESI treatment facility was available, he said.
Earlier, the Minister said Government is having an agreement with the ESI to help ESI beneficiaries get treatment in the nearest Taluk and District Hospitals. With several workmen and their family members relying on the ESI healthcare facilities, care should be taken to provide quality healthcare at the ESI facilities. The Minister called upon ESI officials to ensure that the Mangaluru ESI hospital provides all types treatment and testing facilities.
