A spectacular display of synchronised Lezim performance by thousands of women and students in Maharashtra created history on International Women’s Day, with 9,111 participants performing together and setting a new Guinness World Record.
The feat took place in Thane district near Mumbai, where women and schoolgirls from Dombivli and Kalyan talukas gathered on Sunday to perform the traditional folk exercise in unison, breaking the previous record held by Sangli district.
The mass Lezim performance was organised at the Shri Sant Savlaram Sports Complex ground in Dombivli. Hundreds of schoolgirls and women from across Thane district assembled at the venue to take part in the attempt.
A total of 9,111 participants performed Lezim simultaneously, creating a new world record.
The event was organised jointly by Dombivlikar Ek Sanskruti Parivar and the Kalyan Taluka Physical Education Committee under the guidance of BJP state president and MLA Ravindra Chavan.
Officials confirmed that the previous record had been set in Sangli district of Maharashtra, where 7,338 women had performed Lezim together.

This moment comes days after the Supreme Court allowed Harish Rana to die with dignity – a historic first court-ordered case of passive euthanasia in India. The court acknowledged the medical opinion that Rana will never recover and that the tubes that feed him and keep him alive are only prolonging his pain.
