
Woman killed in lorry collision on NH 65 near Ramoji Film City

A woman died in a lorry collision on NH 65 near Ramoji Film City; investigation underway.
A 41-year-old woman died in a road accident on NH 65 near the main gate of Ramoji Film City on February 28 after a lorry allegedly rammed into the motorcycle on which she was travelling.
The deceased has been identified as Gandikota Lalitha, 41, a labourer from Waddera Basthi, Manikeshwar Nagar, Tarnaka. The injured rider has been identified as Chepuri Lingaswamy, a mason.
According to the complaint lodged by Varikuppala Yadaiah, 45, a labourer from Brahmana Wada, Begumpet, Lalitha was travelling from Tarnaka to Abdullapurmet along with Lingaswamy for work. She was riding pillion on a Honda Shine motorcycle bearing registration number TS 05 FN 5095.
When they reached NH 65 opposite the main gate of Ramoji Film City towards the Vijayawada side at about 9.45 a.m., a lorry bearing registration number AP 16 TS 3366, proceeding in the same direction, allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and hit the motorcycle from behind.
Due to the impact, Lalitha fell onto the right side of the road and sustained fatal head injuries after being struck by the lorry. She died on the spot. Lingaswamy fell to the left side and sustained injuries.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and investigation is under way.
