Will it be NDA vs NDA in Bihar? BJP, VIP announce candidates for Bochaha bypoll
India Today
The BJP and VIP, parties that are partners in the National Democratic Alliance government in Bihar, have both announced candidates for the upcoming bypoll in Bochaha in Bihar.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced MLA Baby Kumari as its candidate for the bypoll in Bihar Assembly constituency Bochaha.
After this announcement, all eyes are now on Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief and minister in the Nitish Kumar-led government, Mukesh Sahani.
Earlier, Mukeh Sahani announced that his party would contest the bypoll at any cost. He announced the name of Amar Paswan, son of Musafir Paswan, as his party’s candidate.
In the 2020 assembly election, the seat was won by MLA Musafir Paswan of the Vikassheel Insaan Party. After his death, the seat fell vacant.
Now, if Mukesh Sahani does not step down from the contest, the fight for the Bochaha seat will be between two candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (of which both the BJP and VIP are a part) and one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Mukesh Sahani, the national president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, fought the UP Assembly election against the BJP, but not a single candidate fielded by his party won. The party contested 53 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
After Mukesh Sahani’s party contested the UP election against the BJP, the saffron party announced its candidate for the Bochaha bypoll.
