From a record outlay to a sweeping green push, Rekha Gupta lays out Delhi's roadmap with big allocations across sectors, while key claims and ambitious targets set the tone for the year ahead.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday presented a Rs 1,03,700 crore budget in the Delhi Assembly, combining a strong green push with a sharp rise in infrastructure spending and record allocations across key sectors.
Positioning it as a forward-looking plan, Gupta said Delhi now ranks third in per capita income among states in India, while defending the scale of spending under her government.
“Last year we presented a Rs 1 lakh crore historic budget. This year, I am presenting a Rs 1,03,700 crore budget,” she said.
A major plank of the budget is its environmental focus, with 21 per cent of the total outlay classified as a “Green Budget”.
“We have brought a Green Budget. We are seeing every policy and scheme from a green lens,” Gupta said. “We have aimed to manage between development and Mother Earth.”
She added that the approach aligns with the Prime Minister’s “4S” framework, speed, skill, strength and scale.
