India is considering sending Navy ships to escort its fuel tankers stuck in the Strait of Hormuz amid the Iran war, according to reports. Pakistan is using naval escort for two vessels.
As ships with vital oil and gas supplies remain stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, India is considering sending its warships to escort them, according to reports. This comes even as Pakistan is already using navy ships to guide two of its vessels home.
The government was considering sending warships in response to requests from Indian shipowners for naval escorts, The New York Times reported on Tuesday, quoting Captain PC Meena, the Directorate General of Shipping (Crew Branch).
That the idea of sending Indian Navy warships to guide Indian commercial ships home was reported by The Hindu on Sunday. The newspaper reported the plan for Navy escort for ships stranded in the Persian Gulf by quoting senior officials without naming them.
The report said that a decision was due in two days.
Iran has choked the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Sea after being attacked by the US and Israel on February 28. The war, which has entered its 11th day, has choked energy supplies to dozens of countries.
The Middle East supplies 55% of India's crude oil, according to Jefferies, a brokerage firm. Thirty-five per cent of the country's oil imports come via the Strat of Hormuz.

However, there remains no credible evidence. It coincided with his reported absence from cabinet meetings. However, Israel has released videos and images to assert that Netanyahu is alive.
