PMK leader questions DMK government on Vanniyar reservation, threatens to unseat in next election.
Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) honorary president G.K. Mani on Wednesday asked whether the DMK government would pass a bill providing 15% internal reservation for Vanniyars in the upcoming session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, if the party left the BJP-led alliance.
In a statement, the PMK leader said the the recommendation for providing internal reservation for Arundhathiyars in Tamil Nadu was received from the Justice Janardhanan Commission in 243 days in 2008. The recommendation to provide reservation for Muslims was received in six months.
He asked why the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission had not given its recommendations to the State government to provide internal reservation for Vanniyars for the past two years. The people of Tamil Nadu would unseat the DMK government in the next election, he said.
