Conan O'Brien wrapped up the Oscars with a touching gesture in support of Martin Short.
At the very end of the Academy Awards telecast on Sunday, O'Brien, the evening's host, made a quick reference to the "Only Murders in the Building" actor.
"It's been an honor and a joy," he said while signing off the show. "We love you, Marty Short. Goodnight!"
The comment came less than a month after Short's eldest daughter, Katherine Hartley Short, died in February at age 42. The manner of death was suicide, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's office.
"It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short," a representative for Short previously told USA TODAY.
