It's one thing to be the face of the Oscars, but it's a whole other affair to be its chosen voice.
The 98th Academy Awards have recruited an actor best known for playing an English vampire to serve as the awards show's announcer on Sunday, March 15.
Matt Berry, who stars as the distinctively voiced Laszlo Cravensworth in "What We Do in the Shadows," has lent his vocal talents to the Oscars announcer's role, known as "the voice of God." In 2025, Nick Offerman handled announcer duties and appeared onscreen to troll host Conan O'Brien.
Returning host O'Brien and his team of Oscar writers recruited Berry, 51, the English comedian and actor who has starred in series including "The IT Crowd," "The Mighty Boosh" and "Toast of London" (which he co-created). Berry is also the memorable voice of the hilarious "Prove Pain Wrong" Advil commercials, which started in 2020.
"My team and I are massive Matt Berry fans, and have been for quite a while," O'Brien said during an Oscars news conference on March 11. "He's one of the funniest people alive."
