When Samantha, Siddharth's Jabardasth landed in trouble for being a copy of Band Baaja Baaraat. On Tuesday Trivia

Siddharth and Samantha's Jabardasth turns 9 today, February 22. The film, which was an unofficial remake of Band Bajaa Baaraat, landed in legal trouble after it flopped in theatres.

Back in 2013, Samantha and Siddharth were in a solid relationship. When Telugu director Nandini Reddy brought them together for Jabardasth, the film made headlines. Their fans were eagerly waiting for the release of the film. Jabardasth hit the theatres on February 22, 2013. According to reports, Jabardasth is an unofficial remake of Ranveer Singh-Anushka Sharma's Band Bajaa Baaraat.

In this week's Tuesday Trivia, let us take a look at the time when Yash Raj Films issued a legal notice to the makers of Jabardasth. Post the release of Jabardasth, popular Tamil director Lingusamy had secured the rights of the film. He announced that he'd dub Jabardasth in Tamil as Dum Dum Pee Pee. However, when the film was due for release in the summer of 2013, Yash Raj Films sought the help of the court to take action.

When Jabardasth was released, those who watched the film found striking similarities between the Telugu film and Ranveer Singh-Anushka Sharma's Band Bajaa Baraat. Jabardasth, however, flopped and failed to impress the audience.

Here's the trailer of Jabardasth:

Cashing in on the popularity of Samantha and Siddharth, Lingusamy decided to release the film in Tamil as Dum Dum Pee Pee. However, Yash Raj Films got a stay from the Delhi High Court. The court restrained the "defendants from releasing Jabardasth in any other format including DVD, CD, Blu-ray discs or in any other electronic or magnetic formats including on television."

In addition, Yash Raj Films also announced that they will remake Band Bajaa Baaraat in Tamil with Nani and Vaani Kapoor. This decision left Lingusamy in a fix. With a stay order and a remake announced, he couldn't go ahead with the release of Dum Dum Pee Pee.

On February 14, 2014, Yash Raj Films' Aaha Kalyanam, the Tamil remake, was released. However, Aaha Kalyanam suffered the same fate as Jabardasth. Both films failed to rake in the moolah and received negative reviews from the critics and audience alike.
