We will fight and win: Arrested NCP leader Nawab Malik tells his sister
India Today
NCP leader Nawab Malik, who has been arrested for alleged connection with Dawood Ibrahim and his gang, has told his sister that he intends to fight the charges and win.
Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik told his sister to “be positive” as he intended to fight against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai.
Nawab Malik’s sister, Dr Sayeeda Khan, in an interview with India Today said, “I met very briefly with bhaijaan [Nawab Malik], he asked me to be positive. He also said that we will fight and win.”
Dr Saydeeda Khan had gone to meet his brother on Friday at the Mumbai ED office before Nawab Malik was admitted to a Mumbai hospital. Sources say the NCP leader was admitted after the doctors found some infection in his urinary tract during a medical examination.
On being asked if Nawab Malik is getting support from his party and government, Dr Khan said, “He is still a minister which means that he has support from the entire government and the party. Many people in Maharashtra are supporting us in this fight.”
“This is a conspiracy by the BJP as my brother has been exposing them for some time. We have full faith in the judiciary and I know that we will win,” she added.
Nawab Malik has been arrested by the ED on charges of funding close aides of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and illegally usurping a property in Mumbai’s Kurla area. He has been sent to ED custody till March 3 by a designated court in Mumbai.
