Randhawa had accused the former minister of pressurising him to allocate a tender for a Godown to his father, Sukhdev Singh Bhullar. Before his death, the officer had also written to his seniors, accusing Bhullar of forcing him to falsely confess to taking bribes for tenders.
The death of a Punjab State Warehousing Corporation officer on March 21 has created a political storm for the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab.
In a 12-second video, shortly before he took his own life, Gagandeep Singh Randhawa had accused AAP MLA Laljit Singh Bhullar of harassing him. Bhullar, who held the transport and jail ministries before being sacked by CM Mann, was sent to five days in police custody by an Amritsar court on Tuesday.

Randhawa's family has continued to demand a CBI investigation into his death. Following the officer's cremation on Tuesday, Upinder Kaur, his wife, said, “We want a CBI probe as we don’t trust the Punjab Police's investigation.”
On the same day, however, the Punjab Chief Minister refused to transfer the case to the CBI, adding that the Punjab Police were competent enough to investigate the case. "The arrest has been made. Remand will be taken. No one will be spared, whether a minister or any person," he told reporters.
"As far as a CBI probe is concerned, many cases involving top leaders were never handed over to the CBI. Serious allegations were levelled against state Congress chief Raja Warring. An immolation took place in Patiala for which Amarinder Singh's government was blamed. Was the CBI called to probe these cases?" Mann added.
