The Chief Minister urged the traders that this is not a time of making profits. “No one should do hoarding and black marketing at this point. Do not supply our produce through the borders to earn more money at this juncture. Keep eyes on the borders. The DGP should hold a virtual meeting,” Ms. Banerjee said.
During the meeting the Chief Minister directed that the number of stores of Sufal Bangla (outlets providing essentials at subsidised rates) be increased. “ In total, there are around 700 outlets and we will have 100 more. They have a store presence in many places and are doing a good job,” she added.
The Chief Minister directed the Ministers and officials to monitor the markets regularly and reactivate the task force to control the price of essential commodities. “If there is a crisis, we will have a meeting again. Think of the nation as your home and take care of it. The ministers and the police should be vigilant,” she added.
