In a video shared on her social media platforms, Union minister Smriti Irani was seen welcoming Indian nationals from Ukraine in their native languages.
Union minister Smriti Irani welcomed a batch of Indian nationals who arrived in India on Wednesday from war-hit Ukraine. The minister also shared a video on her social media handles, where she could be seen welcoming the citizens in their native languages.
In the video, Smriti Irani could be seen inside an IndiGo flight and calling out to the people in their native language. The minister greeted the people in Malayalam, Bangla, Gujarati and Marathi as she welcomed them home.
Till Tuesday, India had evacuated over 12,000 Indian students from Ukraine. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that 1,377 more Indian nationals were evacuated from Ukraine. Follow Ukraine Russia war LIVE updates
Under Operation Ganga, the Centre is sending commercial as well as Indian Air Force aircraft to bring back stranded citizens who have crossed into Romania, Poland, Hungary and other neighbouring countries of Ukraine.
