Volkswagen Taigun: What we know so far
India Today
Ahead of its launch, we take a quick look at what the new Volkswagen Taigun has to offer for the Indian market.
Volkswagen India is all set to launch the new Volkswagen Taigun in India on September 23, 2021. The new Taigun is the first product under VW’s SUV product line-up for India, and will be competing in the mid-sized SUV segment alongside its sibling Skoda Kushaq. The new Volkswagen Taigun is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, and features a modern design, premium interior, powerful engine options, and the latest tech to rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming MG Astor in India. Ahead of its launch, we take a quick look at what the new Volkswagen Taigun has to offer for the Indian market.
First off, the Volkswagen Taigun is a completely locally manufactured product, so expect an aggressive price from the German carmaker which will likely undercut most of its rivals. The Taigun will be similarly priced to the Kushaq, so expect the new SUV to retail at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh, going up to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the top-spec variants. As far as the design goes, the new Taigun features a striking front end with a chrome grille, the logo is positioned between the grille, and the headlamps will sport LED matrix treatment. The mid and top spec Taigun will also feature auto LED DRLs. The profile supports the bold design with 17-inch alloy wheels giving a premium appeal to the SUV, whereas the rear continues the muscular approach from the front with a wide C-shaped continuous LED tail lamp that looks soothing at night.
