Mr. Vijay was given permission by the Election Commission to address his supporters from this particular spot near Thevar statue junction between 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. After flying down to Madurai from Chennai, he took the road to reach the venue in Karaikudi. However, he could not continue riding on the bicycle and got back on his campaign vehicle to reach the spot.
He was received by a huge crowd of members of the public, party cadre and TVK candidate for Karaikudi constituency T.K. Prabhu. Mr. Prabhu, , handed over a memento to Mr. Vijay. Despite waiting for over four hours in the scorching sun, thousands of people left disappointed after failing to hear Mr. Vijay’s speech.
Devakottai Sub-Collector Ayush Venkat Vats clarified that permission for a street corner meeting was granted to Mr. Vijay from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
