The Varanasi district court will resume hearing the Gyanvapi case tomorrow, July 4.
The Varanasi district court on Monday, July 4, will resume hearing arguments on the maintainability of a plea by five Hindu women seeking permission for daily worship of the Shringar Gauri Sthal within the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi complex.
The Hindu women have sought round-the-year access to offer prayers at the Shringar Gauri Sthal.

Meanwhile, the Muslim side has argued that the plea is not maintainable as the Places of Worship Act, 1991 prohibits the conversion of a place of worship and orders the maintenance of the religious character of any place of worship as it existed on August 15, 1947.
The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid committee will continue presenting its side tomorrow.
A petition filed in 1991 in a Varanasi court claimed that the Gyanvapi Mosque was built on the orders of Aurangzeb by demolishing a part of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple during his reign in the 16th century.
The petitioners and local priests sought permission to worship in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex. The Allahabad High Court in 2019 ordered a stay on an ASI survey that was requested by the petitioners.
