VAO office in need of renovation in Chitlapakkam; new bunks pose threat
The Hindu
Residents in Chitlapakkam seek VAO assistance in dilapidated office, while Saligramam faces crowded streets due to new vendor bunks.
While the Chitlapakkam town panchayat has been merged with the Tambaram Corporation, the residents approach the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) for various purposes. The VAO office located in Jothi Nagar of Chitlapakkam is in a dilapidated condition. Located on the main road and opposite Tambaram MLA S.R. Raja office, it is in urgent need of renovation as the water from the over head tank leaks. Due to absence of concrete compound, stray cattle and dogs occupy the front portion of the office.

Mr. Raja said he would allot a sum for a new office building next year and finish the construction within a year.
The Arunachalam Road in Saligramam is a very busy street as several multi-storey apartments and commercial establishments are located in the area. Recently the Chennai Corporation has distributed new bunks for streets vendors.
These new bunks are new bunks occupying huge space thereby literally pushing the pedestrians to the crowded road and posing danger of accidents.
