181 offenders held in month-long crackdown on harassment
A total of 181 offenders, including 148 adults and 33 minors, were held by the Malkajgiri She Teams during a month long drive against harassment of women and girls between February 16 and March 15.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety) T. Usha Rani, the drive led to the registration of eight criminal cases and 57 petty cases, while 122 individuals were counselled in the presence of their family members at the CP Camp Office in LB Nagar with the assistance of professional counsellors. During the same period, police received 223 complaints, including 57 related to phone harassment, 53 involving social media abuse, and 113 instances of direct or physical harassment.
She Teams have intensified decoy operations across bus and railway stations, metro stations, educational institutions, markets and other public places to identify and apprehend offenders. Those found harassing women are being booked with evidence and produced before courts, while counselling is used as a corrective measure in appropriate cases.
Highlighting significant cases, officials said a man was booked for deceiving a woman colleague into a secret marriage, forcing her into abortions, assaulting her and later abandoning her after taking her money and gold.
In another case, a man known to a student’s family was booked for continued harassment and threats to circulate her photographs online even after vacating her residence where he lived as a tenant.
Police also registered a case against a senior employee of a private company accused of persistently harassing a woman colleague and other female staff, including making inappropriate demands and contacting them late at night.

The highlight of every edition of the Whitefield Art Collective is the Kala Car, an exhibit that showcases the creative and artistic prowess of art students. Over the years, this clever play on words has titled vehicles that have either been rescued from the scrap yard or sponsored or auctioned or all of the above.
