Vaccines considerably reduce Covid-related hospitalisation, data show
India Today
An earlier analysis done by India Today Data Intelligence Unit (DIU) has shown that vaccination and booster doses have reduced fatalities Covid considerably.
On December 24, London reported more than 26,000 new Covid cases and 23 deaths. The same day, there were 2,260 Covid patients in London hospitals.
Contrast this to the situation in the beginning of 2021. In the midst of a raging, and perhaps most lethal till date, Covid wave in the middle of January, the average daily cases in the city were nearly 13,000 and hospital occupancy at around 8,000. In other words, while the daily reported number of infections has doubled in London compared to what was the case nearly 11 months ago, the burden on hospitals is a fourth of what was the case then.

Two years ago, former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina warned of an alleged plot by a 'white man' to establish a Christian state. In 2025, the Mizoram CM said Ukraine war veterans were using the state to enter Myanmar. The arrest of 7 foreign nationals by the NIA has prompted experts to suggest that the incidents might be connected.

Pradyut Bordoloi was a dyed-in-the-wool Congressi who vowed to never leave the party. The physical attack on him in 2025, and the Congress embracing "communal elements" pushed the Lok Sabha MP into joining the BJP. Bordoloi's exit from the Congress after three decades is significant for the party and Assam's politics.
