Uttarakhand Governor Gurmit Singh's helicopter made a safe emergency landing due to a technical snag, avoiding any mishap.
A helicopter carrying Gurmit Singh, Governor of Uttarakhand, made an emergency landing on Sunday after developing a technical snag mid-air, prompting the pilot to divert the aircraft and avoid a potential mishap.
Officials said the helicopter, belonging to the Uttarakhand government, experienced technical problems during the flight, forcing an immediate precautionary landing at the GVK Helipad in Srinagar, Uttarakhand.
According to the Pauri Police, the pilot received alerts about technical faults while the helicopter was airborne. Sensing the risk, the pilot chose not to take chances and steered the aircraft to the nearest safe landing spot.
The helicopter was successfully brought down at the helipad without incident, averting what officials said could have turned into a major accident. The Governor was reported to be safe.
Soon after the emergency landing, local administration and security agencies rushed to the site. Following security protocol, Singh was escorted from the helipad and taken to the Police Guest House in Srinagar, where he is currently staying.
Sources said a technical team has been called in and a detailed inspection of the helicopter is underway to determine whether the snag occurred in the engine or another system.

This moment comes days after the Supreme Court allowed Harish Rana to die with dignity – a historic first court-ordered case of passive euthanasia in India. The court acknowledged the medical opinion that Rana will never recover and that the tubes that feed him and keep him alive are only prolonging his pain.
