Jennifer Vernancio had a terrific day at work last week as she received a huge tip after serving a routine meal to a couple at the restaurant. And yes, of course, she was overjoyed.
For Jennifer Vernancio, May 4 started off on a “terrible” note but little did she realise that it was going to be one of her best days at work. A resident of North Providence, Rhode Island, United States, Jennifer works as a waitress at the Big Cheese & Pub in Cranston for the past 3.5 years. Last week, she had a terrific day at work as she received a huge tip after serving a routine meal to a couple at the restaurant. And yes, of course, she was overjoyed.
The couple’s bill amounted to approximately $48 (Rs 3,712) but in order to make Vernancio’s day special, they gave her a tip of $810 (Rs 62,640).
Speaking to WJAR, Vernancio, mother of a 3-year-old son and 16-year-old daughter, said, "I was having a terrible morning. I couldn't find a sitter. There was a kid at daycare that was sick so I couldn't bring my son. They told me to come in when I have a sitter, so my daughter was available after school. That's when I came in."
Describing her first customers of May 4 the couple in question - as a "super, super nice gentleman and his wife,” Vernancio said they ordered sandwiches. After their meal, the couple paid the bill and left the tip for Vernancio.
"I go over to pick up the check, I don't even know. They left me an $810 tip. I'm like, 'Are you kidding? This can't be.' I brought it to my manager and at first I'm like, 'This can't be.' She's like, 'Oh no, that's it’,” Vernancio added.
On Facebook, Big Cheese & Pub shared a picture of the receipt of the bill that showed the $810 tip. "Angels wander among us and for that we are grateful," the post reads.
