The US Soccer Federation reached a historic agreement to pay its men's and women's teams equally, making the American national governing body the first to equalise FIFA World Cup participation prize money awarded to the teams.
The United States Soccer Federation reached an agreement to pay its men's and women's teams equally, including the World Cups, after they agreed on the historic collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) on Wednesday.
The American national governing body became the first federation in the world to equalise FIFA World Cup prize money awarded to the teams for participation in their respective global events.
The CBAs are till 2028 and will cover the next two World Cups and the Olympic Games. The US Soccer Federation also said that it will ensure its players are among the highest paid national team players in the world.
"This is a truly historic moment. These agreements have changed the game forever here in the United States and have the potential to change the game around the world," said U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone.
In a historic accomplishment, U.S. Soccer, @USMNT and @USWNT have come together to agree to new collective bargaining agreements that will run through 2028 and achieve true equal pay including equalization of World Cup prize money.
