A British man shared a video of himself joining the celebrations at India Gate after India’s T20 World Cup victory, proudly waving the tricolour among cheering fans in the national capital.
Nick Booker, who often says that although he was born in the UK his “dil (heart) is Indian,” posted the video on his Instagram page, showing himself celebrating with crowds at India Gate shortly after India’s big win.
In the video, Nick could be seen standing in a car’s sunroof while holding the Indian flag, waving it enthusiastically as celebrations unfolded around him. Smiling widely and clearly caught up in the excitement, he cheered loudly while recording the moment.
At one point in the clip, he said, “India has won! This is the fourth time I've come to India Gate to celebrate India winning the World Cup. So proud of the players!” Throughout the video, he continued waving the flag and celebrating along with the crowd.
In the caption accompanying the post, Booker shared more about his long-standing tradition of celebrating India’s cricket victories at the iconic Delhi landmark.
“Congratulations India!!!! This is the fourth time I have come to India Gate to join in the celebrations following a World Cup win. The first one was nearly 19 years ago in 2007.”
