Two minor boys in Delhi arrested for raping neighbouring minor girl

The two minors, aged 10 and 12, took the nine-year-old girl to a vacant house in their neighbourhood in Delhi’s Shastri Park area and raped her. The girl is batting for her life in the ICU.
Two minor boys were arrested on Tuesday, January 25, for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl in Delhi’s Shastri Park area. The incident occurred on Monday, and police said the girl was playing near her house when the two minor boys took her to a vacant house nearby and raped her.
According to the police, the girl went out to play at around 2 pm and came back at 4.30 pm. She told her mother about pain in her abdominal area. When the mother asked for more information, the minor girl revealed what had occurred.
The mother went to the local police station to file a complaint. Officials from the Child Welfare Committee were called to counsel the victim. She was then sent to medical examination, which confirmed the sexual assault.
Based on the information given by the mother, the boys were apprehended on Tuesday from their houses in Shastri Park. The matter was also reported to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).
DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal said, “The eight-year-old girl has been brutally raped and is in unimaginable pain as she is battling for her life in ICU due to severe damage to her private parts. The people gang-raping an 8-year-old are not humans. The strongest punishment needs to be given to the guilty.”
A case under sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 376 (AB) (punishment for rape by those under 12 years) of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act was registered at Shastri Park police station.
