TVK cadre protests in Tamil Nadu, demanding government action on law and order issues and a caste-based census.
Cadre of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) staged demonstrations in Tiruchi, Perambalur, and Pudukottai districts on Thursday condemning the State government for what it alleged “deterioration of the law and order” in Tamil Nadu and for its failure to check the circulation of narcotic substances.
The demonstrators demanded the State government to carry out caste-based census in Tamil Nadu. The demonstration in Tiruchi city was organised near the District Collectorate with several women members taking part. The nearly hour-long demonstration was led by the party’s Tiruchi integrated district secretary Karikalan with the party’s propaganda secretary Nanjil Sampath taking part.
In Perambalur, the demonstration was held near the Perambalur old bus stand with the party’s district secretary Sivakumar leading the stir. In Pudukottai, the demonstration was organised at Thilagar Thidal with the party’s central district secretary Parvesh heading the stir, said police sources.
