Hotels in Coimbatore have extended the restricted service hours and menus to online food ordering service too
With hotels and restaurants in Coimbatore city curtailing menus and service hours to manage the LPG commercial cylinder shortage, online food ordering has also reduced.
“Almost 30% of the hotels had stopped servicing online orders. Some are trying to return slowly,” said R. Balachandar, secretary of the Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association. “We had stopped online orders completely for two days. We have started using firewood in my hotels and we are gradually starting to service online orders too,” he said.
A spokesperson for the Sree Annapoorna Sree Gowrishankar group said dosas are available at its restaurants only in the morning and evening demand hours. Similarly, dosas are available for orders on online platforms too only during these hours. “We service only those food items that we have made available offline and only during the hours when it will be available at the restaurants. This has brought down online orders significantly,” he said.
There is absolutely no supply of LPG cylinders now and the hotels have to manage the situation with the existing stocks. So, they are unable to service online orders,” said another hotelier.
