'Turkman Gate 2022': Owaisi lashes out at BJP, AAP over Jahangirpuri demolition

Raising the Jahangirpuri demolition issue, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the BJP and AAP, reminding the parties that Congress, under which the alleged Turkman Gate massacre had occurred, was no longer in power.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi continued his attack on the BJP and the AAP over the demolition of the encroachments in the violence-hit Jahangirpur area of Delhi. He also trained his guns on the Congress, raising the Turkman Gate demolition controversy during the Emergency of 1975-76.

“Turkman Gate 2022, history tells you those in power in 1976 are a spent force in present times, this BJP & AAP should be remember. Power is not eternal [sic],” he tweeted.

The Turkman Gate demolition of Delhi was infamous for alleged political oppression and massacre of slum dwellers when the Indira Gandhi government allegedly ordered the shooting of protesters who were agitating against the demolition of houses in the area.
