
Toyota clocks 15% growth with 33,880 units sold in January 2026

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has begun 2026 on a positive trajectory, posting strong year-on-year growth in January sales, driven by steady domestic demand, stable exports and a renewed push towards electrified mobility.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has kicked off calendar year 2026 on a strong note, reporting total sales of 33,880 units in January 2026, marking a 15 per cent year-on-year growth compared to the 29,371 units sold in January 2025. The performance underscores sustained customer demand across Toyota’s core product portfolio and the brand’s steady momentum in both domestic and export markets.
Of the total volume, 30,630 units were sold in the domestic market, registering a robust 17 per cent growth over the 26,178 units sold in January last year. Exports stood at 3,250 units, up marginally from 3,193 units in the corresponding period, reflecting a 2 per cent increase.
Commenting on the performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President – Sales, Service and Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the year has begun on an “encouraging note”, supported by customer trust in Toyota’s focus on quality, safety and sustainability.
A key highlight for the month was the launch of the all-electric Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking Toyota’s latest step towards future-ready mobility solutions in India. According to the company, the new electric SUV strengthens Toyota’s value proposition while aligning with India’s broader transition towards carbon neutrality and sustainable mobility.
Toyota’s India operations continue to be backed by a diversified product portfolio spanning MPVs, SUVs, pickups and hybrids. Locally manufactured models include the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Legender at the company’s first plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, which has an installed capacity of 1.32 lakh units per annum. The second plant, operational since December 2010 at the same location, produces the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Hilux, with a capacity of 2.10 lakh units, taking Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s total installed production capacity to 3.42 lakh units annually.
In addition, Toyota retails models such as the Glanza, Rumion and Urban Cruiser Taisor, while premium offerings like the Vellfire luxury MPV and Land Cruiser 300 are brought into India as completely built units (CBUs).
