Noor Mohamed from Coimbatore dressed up as a king carrying a broom to file his nomination papers. He has contested 29 times so far. His attire and message of keeping ‘trash’ away from society got the attention of people in the area.
With Tamil Nadu gearing up for the urban local body elections, several candidates have used creative methods to seek votes. A candidate in Coimbatore dressed up as a king carrying a broomstick to campaign for votes.
Noor Mohamed is also known as the ‘Election King’. He has contested 29 times so far and has canvassed votes in so many creative ways. This includes seeking votes while travelling in a bullock cart, pushcart, horse, cycle, etc.
The urban local body polls are scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 19 and the results will be announced on Tuesday, February 22.

This time, Noor Mohamed went a notch up by dressing as a king and carrying a broom with him at Coimbatore. Independent candidate Noor Mohamed, contesting from the 94th Ward, surprised many when he came to file the nomination papers.
Noor Mohamed reached the election office on a horse. To canvas for votes, Noor Mohamed, along with two men dressed as his subordinates in royal attire, was using a broom to clean the streets symbolically,
He stated that he was keeping the ‘trash’ away from society. His attire and message did get the attention of several citizens in the area.
