TMC protests as hologram of Netaji goes missing at India Gate

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs protested against the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's hologram at India Gate.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs including Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, Sougato Roy, Nadimul Haque, Shanta Chetri and Mausam Noor protested against the disappearance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose' hologram.

The protests were carried out in front of the canopy, where the hologram was put up, with posters and banners that read 'Don't blackout Netaji' and 'Let there be light'.

TMC RS MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy stated that the BJP government has hurt the sentiments of people who adore Subhas Chandra Bose by switching off the hologram. He went on to say that the hologram was a part of the Modi government's 'damage control' after Bengal's tableaux on Bose was not selected for the Republic Day parade.

The union government had earlier decided to put a life-size permanent statue of Netaji inside the canopy in front of India Gate.

"The hologram was a part of damage control. First, they did not allow Bengal's tableau on Netaji, which was condemned by his daughter and family. Then later this hologram was put up where Bose is seen to be saluting. Whom is Netaji saluting? Modi?" asked the senior TMC leader at India Gate.

TMC leaders also alleged that an artist from Odisha was given the contract of making the granite statue, who was also a member of the BJP. According to them, there was no open tender for its construction.
