Tiruvannamalai AIADMK functionary denies donating blood at camp after video of her ‘pretending’ goes viral
The Tiruvannamalai Central District Secretary of the AIADMK, L. Jayasudha, on Monday (May 12, 2025) denied that she had donated blood while inaugurating a blood donation camp in the district as part of the celebrations for the 71st birthday of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Her statement comes after a video of her “pretending” to donate blood at the camp went viral on social media.
On Sunday (May, 11, 2025), the local IT wing of the party had organised a blood donation camp in Chetpet near Polur town in the district, and Ms. Jayasudha was invited to inaugurate it.
In a video shot by the party cadre, Ms. Jayasudha was seen lying on a medical bed with the blood donation line strapped to her arm. A few minutes later, she was also checked by a physician, who was present at the camp. Later, she left the camp after handing over gifts to the participants.
The video, however, went viral on social media platforms after viewers noticed that she was only “pretending” to donate blood, triggering public outrage.
In her response, Ms. Jayasudha told The Hindu that she did not donate blood after she was asked by the duty doctor at the camp whether she had diabetes. When she told the doctor she was diabetic, she was advised not to donate blood.
Accordingly, she left the camp after interacting with the participants and cadre at the camp. “Around 70 persons donated blood at the camp, excluding me, after the doctor advised me against it, due to diabetes. The video was circulated by those who want to tarnish my image in the party (AIADMK),” she said.
