Rescue operations are underway to rescue the sixth worker trapped under a boulder following a landslide in a stone quarry in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli. He is the only worker who has not been rescued.
Six days after the accident in a stone quarry in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli, rescue efforts are still ongoing to save the sixth worker trapped under a boulder after it rolled down into the quarry pit on the night of May 14.
A total of six men were trapped under a boulder in a quarry in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli district.
Officials deployed in the area said a controlled explosion is being attempted to find the body of the sixth missing person, P Rajendran. They added that Rajendran is most likely trapped under nearly 100 tonnes of heavy rocks. Earlier too, officials conducted a controlled explosion to find the body of M Selvakumar.
The rescue operation for the men trapped in the quarry has been facing difficulties due to the continuous landslides in the region. The rescued workers who were trapped have also joined the operation to recover the sixth person.
So far, officials have only rescued two out of the six workers alive and recovered the body of three others.
