Karnataka minister C Ashwath Narayan has called for encounter killings after a spate of murders raised communal tensions in the Dakshina Kannada district. Time has come for encounters. We will ensure that there will be no murders in future like this, he said.
"In the coming days, we will take action in such a way that people who indulge in these kinds of killing will be scared," Ashwath Narayan was quoted as saying by ANI.
"Some people who want to provoke are testing the patience of Karnataka. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that stern action will be taken against culprits. The CM has clearly said that we are also ready to encounter," he added.

BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru was hacked to death by three men on July 26, causing anger among BJP workers who took to the streets against the government. Two men with suspected links to the Popular Front of India (PFI) were arrested in connection with the murder.
Following Nettaru's death, Fazil, a 23-year-old Muslim man, was killed in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday. The police detained 12 people in connection with the murder.
