Three Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

The Hindu

Major operation along Chhattisgarh-Telangana border results in three Maoist deaths, with more suspected casualties in ongoing conflict.

“At least three Maoists were killed till Thursday afternoon (April 24, 2025) in a major operation being carried out along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border,” a senior police officer said.

While three bodies have been recovered, the police suspect there could be more Maoists killed even as the exchange of fire was reportedly on in a forest in Karegutta hills in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district along the inter-State border.

During the operation, one of biggest ever in the conflict-hit Bastar region, a large number of security personnel are involved. “The teams comprise personnel from various units of the State Police as well as Central forces including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Special Task Force (STF), all units of the State police, as well as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its elite Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA),” he said. Additionally, the Telangana police were also assisting in the operation.

Local TV reports also claimed that choppers were also being used to provide assistance to the on ground personnel in the operation.

The operation that’s been on for several consecutive days was launched on Monday (April 21, 2025) based on inputs about the presence of senior cadres of battalion no. 1, which is considered the strongest military formation of Maoists, and Telangana State committee of Maoists. It is also learnt that the forces are zeroing in on some of the top Maoist leaders.
