Actor and politician Thalapathy Vijay, speaking at a Women's Day event in Chennai, discussed recent issues surrounding him. He requested his supporters not to be troubled and emphasised the need to prioritise public welfare.
Actor-politician Thalapathy Vijay addressed concerns about "recent problems surrounding him" on Saturday. His comments came in response to the attention his personal life has garnered over recent weeks, even as the controversy over his latest film, Jana Nayagan, refuses to die down.
The 51-year-old, who has a large and dedicated following, was speaking at his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)’s Women’s Day event in Chennai, where he clarified his perspective on the ongoing situation.
A video from the event, which has since gone viral across social media platforms, shows Vijay appealing to his fans not to feel sad or stressed because of his problems. He said, "Please don’t worry about the recent problems surrounding me. Those issues are not worth your time. I will take care of them myself. What hurts me the most is seeing you feel sad or stressed because of my problems. Please don’t carry that burden for me. Instead, let’s focus on the welfare of people."

His remarks come at a time when his personal life has been the subject of widespread discussion online and in the media.
Not long ago, his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam filed a petition seeking divorce from Vijay after 26 years of marriage. Vijay and Sangeetha got married in August 1999, and have two children – Jason Sanjay and Divya Shasha.
