She co-presented the awards in the documentary categories, specifically Best Documentary Feature (won by Best Boy, directed by Ira Wohl) and Best Documentary Short Subject (won by Paul Robeson: Tribute to an Artist, directed by Saul J Turell).
Persis appeared alongside Canadian actor William Shatner (famous for Star Trek, where Persis herself had starred as Lt Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture the previous year). The duo handed out both Documentary Oscars during the ceremony, hosted by Johnny Carson.

The actor has now been officially announced as a presenter for the 98th Oscars on March 15, 2026 (March 16, according to Indian time), at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
