As Priyanka Chopra gets ready to present at the Oscars 2026 again this year, we look at Indians who represented India at the Academy Awards.
Actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas will join actors Demi Moore, Mikey Madison, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Javier Bardem and others at the 98th Academy Awards. She will be returning to the prestigious awards ceremony as a presenter after ten years since her appearance at the 88th Academy Awards. A glimpse at the actors who represented India at the Oscars apart from Priyanka.
Actor and former Miss India Persis Khambatta debuted as a presenter at the 52nd Academy Awards (held on April 14, 1980, honouring films from 1979). She co-presented the awards in the documentary categories, specifically Best Documentary Feature (won by Best Boy, directed by Ira Wohl) and Best Documentary Short Subject (won by Paul Robeson: Tribute to an Artist, directed by Saul J Turell).
Persis appeared alongside Canadian actor William Shatner (famous for Star Trek, where Persis herself had starred as Lt Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture the previous year). The duo handed out both Documentary Oscars during the ceremony, hosted by Johnny Carson.
Priyanka Chopra presented at the 88th Academy Awards in 2016, announcing the Best Film Editing winner (Mad Max: Fury Road) alongside Liev Schreiber. The actor has now been officially announced as a presenter for the 98th Oscars on March 15, 2026 (March 16, according to Indian time), at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
This marks her return after a decade, joining a star-studded lineup that includes Chase Infiniti, Demi Moore, Kumail Nanjiani, Maya Rudolph, Adrien Brody, Kieran Culkin, Mikey Madison, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Javier Bardem, Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and others.
