Tej Pratap Yadav announced Rs 11 lakh financial support for Rajpal Yadav after the actor was sent to Tihar Jail in a cheque bounce case.
Actor Rajpal Yadav has received support from former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav amid his ongoing legal troubles. On February 10, Tej Pratap Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh for the actor, who was sent to Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case linked to an old debt.
The case dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav reportedly took a Rs 5 crore loan to fund his directorial project Ata Pata Laapata. The film's poor box office performance led to financial distress and subsequent legal proceedings over unpaid dues.
Tej Pratap Yadav expressed his condolences and solidarity with the actor's family after learning about the situation through a post by his elder brother Rao Inderjit Yadav. He stated, "I just learned about the grief and suffering of the family of Rajpal Yadav ji through a post by my elder brother Rao Inderjit Yadav ji. In this extremely difficult time, I and the entire JJD (Jan Shakti Janata Dal) family stand firmly with the bereaved family with our deepest condolences and solidarity."
He confirmed his decision to provide financial aid, saying, "With a spirit of human compassion and support, on behalf of the JJD family, I am providing financial assistance of Rs 11,00,000 (Eleven lakh rupees) to the family."
Support has also come from the film industry. Actors Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Choudhary publicly expressed their willingness to help. Gurmeet encouraged others in the industry, including filmmakers and producers, to step forward.
Sonu Sood announced he would cast Rajpal Yadav in an upcoming film and urged other filmmakers to consider offering signing amounts to help.
