Tehseen Poonawalla says will go by rules on Lock Upp, it's a jail not a luxury resort: Interview

Tehseen Poonawalla is one of the contestants on Ekta Kapoor's Lock Upp. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, the political analyst opened up on looking forward to the captive reality show and called it one of its kind.

Tehseen Poonawalla is quite excited to be held captive in Lock Upp. The political analyst, who was seen on Bigg Boss 13, is now a part of Ekta Kapoor's Lock Upp. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, Tehseen Poonawala revealed that he said yes to show only because of Ekta Kapoor.

Lock Upp premiered on ALTBalaji and MXPlayer on February 27. Tehseen Poonawalla wants the world to see the real Tehseen Poowalla on the show. When asked if viewers will get to witness clashes between him and host Kangana Ranaut, given that their ideologies are different, he said, "I definitely don't agree with Kangana's political ideologies and her point of view, they are completely opposite than mine. But what I do respect about her and nobody can take that away from her is that she is a tremendous actress and she stands her ground and she stands for her point of view. That is something I admire about her and relate to because I am committed to my ideology. If we are on the show together, she will be a very worthy adversary. And, she will be a fantastic jailer and I will be a fantastic prisoner. I will be a lot of fun."

Lock Upp is being compared to Bigg Boss but Tehseen doesn't agree. "A lot of times people think that A show will be like another. But, in my opinion, this is nothing like Bigg Boss. The OTT platform is so advanced and so diversified. There are multiple reality shows revolving around different contexts. And this is one of its kind show. It's going to be in the metaverse. You are going to have people playing. I think the audience will be excited to be on this journey."

The show is touted to be a difficult one for the contestants. But Tehseen is ready to play by the rules. He added, "Right now I don't know what the rules are. But, whatever the rules are, one has to go by them. You are in jail and not a luxury resort. And, that's the whole point. The whole point of any reality show is about how you react under pressure. And you have to bring out the best in you."

Tehseen is on the show to have fun and show is real side to the world. "I am not going on the show as a politician or a political analyst. I am going as Tehseen Poonawalla. And I want the world to see the real Tehseen Poonawalla on the show. The real Tehseen Poonawalla is fun, is opinionated but I want to have fun on the show," said the former BB 13 contestant.

Ekta Kapoor is all set to bring Lock Upp: Badass Jail Atyaachaari Khel with 16 popular celebrity contestants who will compete for the most basic amenities as they fight for the winner's title. ALTBalaji and MX Player will live stream this show 24x7 on their respective platforms and allow the audiences to interact directly with the contestants, starting February 27, 2022.
