TCS ends Work From Home and tells employees 3-day office is must, senior staff to work 5-day week

TCS ends Work From Home and tells employees 3-day office is must, senior staff to work 5-day week

TCS has notified around 80 percent of its employees to come back to office for at least three days a week. It has also said the new rules around WFH and work from office must be strictly followed.

With Covid cases down significantly, the IT giants have started ending the Work From Home mandate. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has now asked around 80 per cent of its employees to come back to the office. The IT firm has reportedly sent an official mail to its employees mandating three days of work from the office every week. While this is for all employees, the senior staffers have been told to completely end WFH and switch to office for 5-day work week.

Reports in the media indicate that TCS has sent an official email to most of its employees, asking them to come to the office 3 days a week. At the same time, it has asked the employees in senior-level roles to work from the office at least five days a week.

"Senior leaders of TCS have been working from TCS offices for a while now and our customers are also visiting TCS offices Your respective managers will now roster you to work from the TCS office for at least 3 days in a week," reads the official mail.

TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan earlier introduced the 25x25 model in May 2020. Under this model, the company set the plan to bring 25 per cent of its members back to the office by 2025. Tata also wants to welcome the new members who joined after 2020 and never visited the office physically. "This will also be an opportunity to welcome a significant number of our new colleagues, who have joined us over the last two years, most of whom have not yet been in a TCS office," TCS mentioned in the mail.

Tech giants including Tesla, Apple and Google have also asked their employees to work from the office for a set number of days.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk earlier asked employees to work from the office for at least 40 hours a week. In April, Google also notified its employees about the transition to a hybrid work model. Google asked most of its employees to work from the office at least three days a week. HCL is also operating with about 6 per cent of staff in the office. In India, Tech Mahindra has also started the hybrid model and has called back 25-30 per cent of its staff back to office.
