After the cancellation of Class 12 board exams, the Tamil Nadu government is pushing for the cancellation of the NEET 2021 exam in view of the pandemic.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced the cancellation of Class 12 board exams on June 6 but also sought cancellation of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 citing the pandemic situation. "Given the circumstances, I'm of the strong view that conducting National level entrance examinations for any professional course would be immensely detrimental to the health and well-being of the students. I, therefore, urge you to cancel the conduct of all national level entrance examinations like NEET", stated the Chief Minister. While saying the decision to cancel Class 12 exams was taken only after a thorough discussion with parents, teachers, educationists, and health experts, the same parameters also apply for conducting NEET exams as in the second wave the spread of Covid-19 is extreme.
