
T.N. to adopt varsity-level single-window system for Ph.D admissions: Minister

Tamil Nadu adopts a university-level single-window system for Ph.D. admissions to enhance transparency and guide allocation.
The Tamil Nadu government has decided to have a university-level single-window system for Ph.D admissionsto ensure transparency, Minister for Higher Education Govi. Chezhiaan informed the Assembly on Thursday.
Referring to complaints regarding transparency in allocation of guides for Ph.D guides, he said single-window system was being adopted in Periyar University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, and Tiruvalluvar University. This system will also be adopted in all State-run universities, he said. The Minister further said that the State government has decided to adopt the university-level single window system for Ph.D. admissions in all State-run universities across the State.
A software will be put in place to ensure transparency in allocation academic guides for Ph.D research scholars and a State-level committee will monitor the admissions in all levels, Mr. Chezhiaan added.

The Italy-based MIR Group is planning to invest about € 20 million in Mangaluru to set up its manufacturing unit for the production of energy-efficient building materials such as Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) panels, thermal insulation materials and sodium-ion batteries, according to Sai Chandu, Sustainability Head, MIR Group.
