NDRF teams of 50 personnel led by Commandants D.V. Patel and Rahul Kumar have arrived in Marakkanam, Villupuram district, to prepare for potential heavy rains. The teams are equipped with rescue equipment, such as life jackets, inflatable boats and cutting gadgets, and will coordinate with local authorities in case of emergencies.
Two teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached Marakkanam in Villupuram district in anticipation of heavy rains.
According to official sources, the teams comprising of 50 personnel and led by Commandants D.V. Patel and Rahul Kumar, will be stationed in Marakkanam. The teams are equipped with rescue equipment, including life jackets, inflatable boats and cutting gadgets.
The teams will coordinate with revenue and police in the event of any emergency.

The Union and State governments provided support in several ways to the needy people, but private institutions should also extend help, especially to those requiring medical assistance, said C.P. Rajkumar, Managing Director, Nalam Multispeciality Hospital, here on Saturday. Speaking at a function to honour Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan and neurologist S. Meenakshisundaram with C. Palaniappan Memorial Award for their contribution to society and Nalam Kappom medical adoption of Type-1 diabetic children, he said the governments implemented numerous welfare programmes, but the timely help by a private hospital or a doctor in the neighbourhood to the people in need would go a long way in safeguarding their lives.
