T.N. Governor visits epigraphist’s residence in Erode

Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi visits epigraphist M.L. Raja in Erode to explore his research and extensive library.
Governor of Tamil Nadu, R. N. Ravi, on Saturday (February 14, 2026) visited noted epigraphist M.L. Raja at his residence in Gangapuram.
The Governor was received by Collector S. Kandasamy. C. Saraswathi, Modakkurichi MLA, accorded him a warm welcome. The visit was aimed at understanding Dr. Raja’s research on inscriptions and ancient monuments and at viewing the extensive private library housed at his residence.
During the event, the MLA and Krithika Sivakumar, State Secretary of the NGO wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, welcomed the Governor by draping a shawl over him and presented a memento. The Governor accepted the honours and interacted with those present.
Dr. Raja is an ophthalmologist, epigraphist, archaeologist and historian. He has translated inscriptional scripts and authored 18 books based on his research. His residence houses a personal library comprising around 7,000 books, reflecting his long-standing academic pursuits. He has received awards for his contributions to Tamil literary works and for his research on the Kamba Ramayanam.
In November 2025, the Governor released the books Kali Yuga Dated Inscriptions – A Basis of Indian History and Chronology (Volumes 1 and 2), authored by Dr. Raja.
