The Karnataka State Contractors Association has decided to stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on March 5, demanding the release of over ₹37,000 crore in pending bills, said R. Manjunath, president of the association in Shivamogga on Saturday.
Mr. Manjunath, in a press conference, stated that the State government had not cleared the bills from 2022-23. The association had appealed to the Chief Minister and several cabinet ministers, as well as other officers, multiple times to resolve the issue. However, the government had neither fulfilled the demand nor convened a meeting with the concerned officers.
The contractors, he said, had borrowed loans from various sources, mortgaging their properties and jewellery to complete the work. However, he alleged that the government had not responded to the contractors’ problems.
Shivamogga PWD Contractors Association president S. Dhanashekhar, general secretary K. Manjunath and others were present at the press conference.
