T.N. CM Stalin launches distribution of textbooks, uniforms, and notebooks to schoolchildren
On the first day of the academic year 2025-26 on Monday (June 2, 2025), Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the distribution of textbooks, uniforms, and stationery to schoolchildren in Chennai. Mr. Stalin also interacted with the students of Lady Willingdon Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School at Triplicane, during the launch event.
About 4.30 crore textbooks valued at ₹311 crore, 1.3 crore school uniforms worth ₹457 crore, 9.6 crore notebooks costing ₹162 crore, and stationery estimated at ₹211 crore are set to be distributed to students this academic year.
Ministers P.K. Sekarbabu and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi; Chennai Mayor R. Priya; Chennai Central MP Dayanidhi Maran; legislator I. Paranthamen; and senior officials also took part in the event. Ministers, MPs, legislators, and representatives of local bodies would launch the distribution in their respective districts.
