T.N. Chief Minister Stalin inaugurates a 1,272-seat auditorium at Presidency College, enhancing facilities for students and inclusivity.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, on Wednesday (March 4, 2026), inaugurated the ‘Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar’ Auditorium, constructed within Presidency College campus in Chennai at a cost of ₹63 crore and distributed laptops to students under the ‘Ulagam Ungal Kaiyil’ initiative.
According to an official release, the Chief Minister had announced the construction of a hostel for persons with disabilities and an auditorium in the name of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi within Presidency College premises during the institution’s convocation in July 2022.

Accordingly, hostel blocks for students with disabilities were constructed at a cost of ₹21.6 crore and inaugurated by the Chief Minister in December 2024. The newly-inaugurated fully air-conditioned auditorium has been constructed over an area of 60,672 square feet. It has seating capacity for 1,272 persons on the ground floor and 800 persons on the first floor, along with an administrative office and a VIP room, the release said.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers K.N. Nehru, E.V. Velu, and Govi. Chezhiaan, Central Chennai MP Dayanidhi Maran and officials were among those present.
