Police raid an illegal hookah bar in Mysuru, arresting one and seizing materials worth ₹50,000 amid health concerns.
Police raided an illegal hookah bar in Mysuru on March 3, seizing hookah pots and various other materials, and arrested one person.
The raid was carried out at a premises located on the second floor of a building near Mathrumandali Circle in V. V. Puram police station limits. The arrested person is Sanjay, 25, a resident of Paduvarahalli, who is accused of operating the hookah bar illegally.
The accused was running a cafe, where hookah and tobacco-related materials were being used illegally, posing potential health risks to people, particularly the youth.
During the raid, police seized hookah pots worth ₹50,000, and about 27 types of materials used in the preparation of the hookah. Two persons, who were consuming hookah in the premises, were taken into custody and handed over to V. V. Puram police for further action.
The V. V. Puram police have registered cases under Section 125 and 3 (5) of the BNS, and Sections 4 (A) and 21 (A) of the COTPA. Further investigation is underway.
