Suvendu Adhikari injured at rally to protest Birbhum arson

Suvendu Adhikari was leading the BJP’s protest march over the Birbhum arson when he hit a barricade. The party is yet to comment on the incident.

Bengal BJP MLA and the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, was injured during a protest march in Birbhum against the incident of arson in the district last month. At least eight people were killed when their homes were locked from outside and set on fire at a village in Birbhum’s Rampurhat.

The MLA was rushed to a private hospital.

The Birbhum violence caused a massive political whirlpool in the state and Centre, with BJP leaders attacking the ruling Trinamool Congress for the incident and the Union Home Ministry asking for a detailed report. The arson was reportedly retaliation for a local TMC leader's death in a crude bomb attack.
