Supreme Court relaxes bail condition for AAP leader Manish Sisodia in corruption and money laundering cases.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday (December 11, 2024) relaxed a bail condition imposed on Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia to report to the investigating officer on Mondays and Thursdays in the corruption and money laundering cases related to the Delhi excise policy.
The apex court had granted him bail in both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case connected to the Delhi liquor policy case and the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) money laundering charges linked to the case.
A Bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan deleted the condition after finding it unnecessary. The relaxation of the bail condition is common to both the CBI and ED cases.
However, the court directed Mr. Sisodia to regularly attend the trial.
The apex court on November 22 agreed to hear Mr. Sisodia’s pleas and issued notices to the CBI and the ED seeking their responses on the applications.
On August 9, the apex court had granted him bail in the corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam, saying long incarceration for 17 months without trial had deprived him of his right to speedy trial.
The apex court had imposed conditions, including that he shall report to the investigating officer on every Monday and Thursday between 10 and 11 a.m.
